Spring Reading Thing

Happy First Day of Spring!

Nothing energizes me like a beautiful day and the promise of warm weather. And I can think of no better way to begin the season than by joining Katrina at Callapiddar Days in her Spring Reading Thing!

As she explains it, Spring Reading Thing 2008 is simply an opportunity for you to set some reading goals, share them with the blogosphere, and work toward them this spring. Perhaps you want to add some variety to your fiction reading. Or maybe you've had very good intentions as far as reading that book on budgeting or marriage or starting a home business, but...you haven't even cracked the cover yet. Some might want to read more with their children; others might feel guilty for never having read Wuthering Heights.

Well, my eyes are always bigger than my stomach, so to speak, but here's what I really want to get read this spring.

Breathing Grace by Harry Kraus, MD - I have enjoyed several of this missionary surgeon's (in Kenya) fiction books. I've barely started this book on grace which I can already tell is excellent. The subtitle itself is compelling: What You Need More Than Your Next Breath.

The Shack by William P. Young - I've heard so many good things about this that I picked it up with a gift card I received.

The Perfect Life by Robin Lee Hatcher - One of the books I recently won. A story of trust and forgiveness.

Hideaway Home by Hannah Alexander - I love anything by this husband/wife writing team, especially since much of it has a medical element! This is their latest, a historical fiction in a WWII setting.

Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis - I've been starting and stopping this since January. I really want to get it finished!

I'm sure there will be more that will catch my eye and that I will want to read. So many books, so little time. . . .

Go by Katrina's site to join the fun or see what others are reading!

Happy Reading!

I'll be interested in what you think about the new Hannah Alexander historical. I picked it up then put it down in the store.

One of our pastor's wives is going to start a book club on the Shack. And a policeman friend of ours from church has ordered a case this book to give out to friends. I've heard lots of good about it. Maybe I'll have to check it out for myself.
