TSMSS - Looking Ahead

I'm posting just a tad early for Then Sings My Soul Saturday. It's been a bit of a melancholy day. Although we are on the brink of spring break (woohoo!), we continue to be stuck in a a "40 degrees and rainy" pattern, which makes me just want to curl up and pull the blanket over my head. Then I read Xandra's precious words about her grandparents and her memories of sweet times with them, which made me smile but feel a little nostalgic myself.

And on top of it all, today marks six months since my mom passed away. I didn't think it was bothering me too much, but it has apparently made me fairly pensive. So here are a couple of songs for Xandra, for me, and for any of you who are anticipating a sweet reunion one day in heaven!

And wow - this one takes me back a little over 30 years: anyone else remember when B J Thomas first recorded this in 1977?!

If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. I Corinthians 15:19

Be sure to go by Amy's blog for more songs to bless your weekend!

Wow, what a great song.

I know what you mean about wanting to curl up with a book in this weather! I'm thankful for all the rain today.

Oh I have those moments and my dad has been gone almost 19 years! I still cry sometimes when I desperately want to talk to him about my faith, or to show him his wonderful grandchildren. I married and had my kids 5 years after he died. I am so looking forward to that reunion with him!!!

I can understand your longing for you mom, especially since it's only been six months. My mom died four years ago and I still miss her so much. But it helps when I am reminded that this really isn't my true home; I'm just passing through.

What a blessing both of these songs were to me. I love the Gaithers! And I used to listen to BJ Thomas and loved his song "Raindrops" from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. But I never heard this song before so I'm glad you posted it. I loved the words.

I'm glad I visited you today. This is the first time I joined in on Then Sings My Soul Saturdays but I'm glad that I did.

My brother went on Home almost 7 years ago. It's hard to believe it's been that long. It's ok to be in a pensive mood and miss your mom. I get that way about Joe and imagine I will continue to do so until I join him. I hope you have a great day today. Wish I could give you a hug!!

Thank you for posting these two wonderful songs today. I haven't heard them in a while and they both bring back so many memories. Our memories can be bittersweet sometimes of loved ones gone ahead, but these thoughts in our minds help keep our hearts focused on the blessed hope of when we meet again. God bless you!

Beautiful songs. Hope your heart finds some ease in your memories. This week was a hard one as my daughter lost a friend and memories came up of a previous loss of a young friend. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry you are carrying a heavy heart, sweet friend. I know there is nothing anyone can do to change the circumstance, but let me just remind you again what a wonderful daughter you were to your mom, especially at the end of her years here. You blessed her greatly, and you carry her in you and she lives on in your kids. Love you.

Oh, how I know how you feel! I lost my dad nearly 20 years ago and I still miss him today as much as I did in the days following his death. There are certain times of the year, especially, Christmas that it is extremely hard for me...my daddy loved Christmas so much.

May the Holy Spirit wrap His loving arms around you today, my friend and hold you close.

Beautiful songs!

Happy TSMSS!

How great to know that we are never alone, no matter what we are going through.

I know how difficult those days can be when you miss your mom. I still have them 4 years later. I am sure I always will. I think of her everytime I listen to MercyMe's "In You".

These songs were wonderful comfort for me and I hope they worked their healing with you as well.
