TSMSS - He Hideth My Soul

Here's a wonderful old song based on Exodus 33:22:
When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
What a beautiful reminder of God as our refuge!

HE HIDETH MY SOUL

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain:
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away,
He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God!
For such a Redeemer as mine.

When clothed with His brightness transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

WORDS: Fanny J. Crosby, 1890
MUSIC: William Kirkpatrick, 1890

Linda, I'm so glad you post some of these older songs. I love this one; especially the words that have such meaning especially as I've been studying the names of God.

Blessings and love,
Debbie

I know this song! I haven't heard it in years!

I just posted "On Eagle's Wings" but not for this weekly meme. I paired it with some photos I took Thursday.

I love the old songs. I like contemporary music but nothing can compare to the old hymns.

It's been years since I've heard this song and I still remember every single word, and sang along. What a great memory and what beautiful words!
