Monday Miscellany

It was a wonderful but very busy weekend, and by the time last night rolled around I didn't even have the oompf to write a blog post beyond the scheduled review that was due. But I do want to take a few minutes to share the blessings!

My MIL arrived early Saturday afternoon, which is always eagerly anticipated around here. We enjoyed just visiting and being together and then she took us to dinner, which I especially appreciated because my back was really bothering me.

Then yesterday was the big day as GG was baptized. She was so excited that I joked with our pastor that I wasn't sure he would be able to actually get her under the water - her buoyancy might make her just float on the top. It was a very sweet baptism as he shared a bit of her story of being an exchange student. When she came out of the water she was absolutely glowing. I can't resist posting one picture taken by a friend.

After church (and lots of hugs and congratulations for GG!) we celebrated by hosting some of GG's friends, both teens and adults, who are special to her and have encouraged her in her new faith for lunch at a nearby restaurant. We had a wonderful time eating Italian food and talking and laughing!

Then last evening my MIL and the girls and I went to see The King's Speech. That is the first movie I have seen in a theater in several years. Absolutely loved it.

Now I'm heading out in a few minutes for a physical therapy evaluation on my back. I had an x-ray last week that fortunately was normal; the doctor said that with osteoporosis, a wreck like I had can cause compression fractures. I am thankful that God protected me from that. I'm hoping that they'll be treat the pain so it will not become a chronic issue.

Of course, what I'm really hoping is that the treatment will consist of a series of massages, not exercises.

I have one more hour to be delusional. Grin.

You may remember that last week I mentioned my girl's viola teacher, who is in the hospital with severe pneumonia which turned into Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Although she has turned a corner, the progress is incrementally slow. She is still in ICU on a ventilator, and they told her mom last Thursday it would be at least this Thursday before the ventilator would come off. That would be day 18 on the ventilator, and if she is still on it at day 21, they will have to do a tracheostomy. Please continue to lift her up in prayer as the Lord leads. Her name is Sarah.

Also, if you are a single adult, or if you have one in your family, PLEASE be sure there is a legal power of attorney (and medical POA) authorizing someone to access bank accounts, pick up mail, pay bills, etc. in the event of an emergency. In addition to the obvious stress of her daughter's illness, Sarah's mom is unable to do much to handle her daughter's affairs until she is conscious and able to sign a POA or give her mom her passwords and other information.

Gotta run. Have a great Monday!

I love to witness baptisms...especially of a young person. Any of the sacrements make me a big mush ball.

Hope your back feels better soon...that's miserable! My husband is currently having some sort of issue with his back and is headed to the dr. tomorrow. That's how I know he's really feeling bad!

The baptism sounds very special. We have my younger daughters on tape...sometime I might blog about it because it was a really amazing event. They're all special though, right? : )

Take care!

Praises on GG's baptism - I love to hear the stories of how people have come to Christ at our baptism services.
I will pray for you and the back issues you are having.
