Pardon Me, Your Hodgepodge is Showing!

It's great to be back to the Wednesday Hodgepodge! I missed it while I was on vacation.

1. What's something you're never too young or too old to enjoy?

A smile from someone who loves you.

2. Share one happy memory from your high school years.

The kids from my church youth group who went to my school always gathered each morning at a certain spot before the bell rang to chat. We also always ate lunch together. We moved to that neighborhood in April of my sophomore year and I had never been part of a church with a large youth group nor gone to a school with a bunch of friends from church. I loved the bond we shared - and we still share it today, more than 30 years later.

3. A nationwide strike of fast food employees took place in the U. S. last week...they're calling for higher wages and the right to unionize? Your thoughts?

I was completely oblivious to this. I don't know what they are paid, but I think they should be thankful they have a job.

4. September is National Honey Month...what's a favorite dish you make or eat that calls for honey?

Sopapillas! With baklava a close second. Although I rarely eat either of them.

5. If you notice someone with a tag sticking out, a button unbuttoned, a shirt on inside-out, or some leftover lunch stuck between their teeth do you say something or do you keep quiet?

If it's someone I know, I always say something. If it's a stranger, I usually say something unless it would be inappropriate to do so. (I won't tell a man his zipper is down.) But if it's a woman, I'll generally tell her, prefacing it with, "I always want someone to tell me...."

6. What movie always makes you cry? Or at least makes you feel like crying?

Brian's Song, from 1971.

7. 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' was written in May of 1830, and published in Juvenile Miscellany in September of that same year. Now for the fun part...create your own four line rhyme using that same tune.

Wednesday Hodgepodge sure is fun,
Sure is fun, sure is fun,
Wednesday Hodgepodge sure is fun,
I hate the weeks I miss!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Old habits die hard. It was 104 yesterday, but it was the day after Labor Day and I couldn't make myself wear white capris or white flip-flops!

Clean underwear, no white between Labor Day and Easter, and say yes ma'am and no sir: Texas is indeed in the South!

I'm wearing my white capris today. Oops. It's warm, and school hasn't started here yet, so that's my excuse : ) I did read white is going to be an all year color this year...not sure who decides these things, but it works for me!

Great answers to all of the questions.
I'm in Texas, too, and finally decided a couple of years ago (although I still cringe and fret a little about it) that if it is hot after Labor Day, I can get away with wearing white and I won't be critical of anybody else wearing white. The thing that REALLY used to get to me was seeing somebody wear white shoes with black hose (in the days we actually wore pantyhose) or a white skirt with dark hose.
