In 1783 peace has been declared, but war still rages in the heart of Lark Benton.

Never did Lark think she'd want to escape Emerson Fielding, the man she's loved all her life. But when he betrays her, she flees Williamsburg for Annapolis, taking refuge in the nation's temporary capital. There Lark throws herself into a new circle of friends who force her to examine all she believes.

Emerson follows, determined to reclaim his betrothed. Surprised when she refuses to return with him, he realizes that in this new nation he has come to call his own, duty is no longer enough. He must learn to open his heart and soul to something greater...before he loses all he should have been fighting to hold.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Roseanna M. White is a bestselling, Christy Award nominated author who has long claimed that words are the air she breathes. When not writing fiction, she’s homeschooling her two kids, editing, designing book covers, and pretending her house will clean itself. Roseanna is the author of a slew of historical novels that span several continents and thousands of years. Spies and war and mayhem always seem to find their way into her books...to offset her real life, which is blessedly ordinary.

Being educated at St. John’s College (the Great Books School) taught Roseanna to ask questions, to value conversation, and to never accept the simple answer without exploring it for herself. She and her family make their home in the mountains of West Virginia where she and her husband both grew up. Roseanna is a member of ACFW, a frequent speaker at writers events and small groups of readers, and an unabashed email addict. Learn more at her website, http://www.roseannamwhite.com/

MY THOUGHTS

I missed this novel the first time around and am so glad it's being re-released. This time I knew what a treat Roseanna M. White's novels are, and I couldn't put it down. Set in the early days following the American Revolution, A Heart's Revolution contains fascinating details about the aftermath and the lingering bitterness against those who had remained loyal to the Crown. The compelling historical setting provides a magnificent backdrop for the battle for love and honor. White weaves a masterful story, eliciting many smiles as quiet, compliant Lark blooms into a vivacious and indomitable young woman. White makes Emerson work harder to gain the reader's sympathies and affection (not to mention Lark's!), and it isn't certain if he will be successful on either account. Completely delightful from the opening paragraphs to the final utterly satisfying sentence, A Heart's Revolution is one of those rare books I hated to finish and wish it were part of a series. Don't miss this charming novel!
