. . . .is that they make one's arms hurts so badly (as well as tire out the unaffected leg so much) that the pain of the broken bone is no longer noticed!
Ah, I feel for you. Crutches are the pits. The only time I had to use them was when I got a bad ankle sprain . . . my first night at Yosemite National Park. Trust me when I say: hiking while on crutches is not something you'd want to try right now. ;-)
I remember how much my arms and back hurt using crutches. And my typing teacher couldn't understand why my arms were so tired when it was my knee that was the problem. It takes work! blessings to you as you go through this time!
Man, I miss a few days, and whoosh! Life has flown right by!
I just finished reading through the 22 updates I had on my google-reader for you. First I was thinking, "Wow, she reads a lot!" Then I was thinking, "Whoa, she broke her leg? It's a good thing she has lots of reading to do!" :)
It's wedding week around here, but if you need anything after Sunday, give me a call and I'll see what I can do! :)
I assume that your daughter is helping quite a bit...she seemed like a good helper. :)
I'm in my "fabulous fifties" and my husband and I have been married 25 years. We have a son and a daughter who are both in college. so we are reluctantly entering the empty-nest years. I was an RN in my former (pre-kids) life which comes in handy as I serve in our church's care ministry.
Chatting over a cup of coffee with a friend to encourage and support one another (and share a laugh or even a tear) is one of my favorite things to do.
I have heard that crutches are no fun!! I doubt you are a wimp! Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteJust think about how much you are improving your upper body strength!

ReplyDeleteHeal well, my friend.
How long will you be in the cast? Are you bruised from the crutches? I am so sorry you're going through this. Un.be.lievable.
