She shopped until I dropped.
In all honesty, it was fun, at least the first
I just had to laugh, though. Some things are so predictable. . .!
My girl fell in love with a screen tee that was "just soooo cute!" Since she needs more shirts like she needs a second head, I told her she would have to spend her own money if she wanted it. She suddenly said, "How much is it? Twenty dollars!!" Back on the rack it went and she never looked back. Funny how easily they'll spend Mom & Dad's money, but they are so frugal with their own!
On the way home, we stopped in at Office Depot for some items I needed. As I was trying to decide between a couple of different things, the "I could shop all day" mantra she had been repeating suddenly came to a screeching halt: "Can you hurry? I'm tired and ready to go home!" Oh, how easy it is to have energy for our own desires and little patience for the needs of others!
What do you wanna bet if I'd told her, "Let's go back and I'll buy you that shirt" that she'd have been rarin' to go?!

Oh, I can feel it. When I really need something, we shop for MY stuff first. What a fun day!
ReplyDeleteAs a mom of 3 daughters and one son (who also likes shopping when it's not with his money!), I know well how these shopping trips can go. I agree things are sooo cute until they have to pay for it themselves, then they become very selective and frugal. Go figure. I enjoyed reading this post.
ReplyDeleteso funny....and definitely a scene that I have seen in my house too!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend in Dallas....don't forget to tell Randy Alcorn that he needs to write another novel!!!! :)
This was so funny I was laughing out loud (at my desk at work, no less). I can so relate! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteThe closest I have come to that is with my 12 year old son - once! Ok, maybe twice - once over shoes (seemed like hours) and once over a binder for school. 4 different stores to not find what he wanted or what he wanted to spend - I had already purchased a binder, he is rough on them! He has made due!
I wrote a column about this once. Oh, it's so fun shopping with girls.
ReplyDeleteWhen you want to shop with a "bigger" girl call me and we can meet at the Outlet Mall!!
ReplyDeleteThat would be so much fun...and
I promise I will behave!
:)
I know exactly what you are describing. They are oblivious to our need for shopping input too when they are teens. They grow out of it!! Then it's even MORE fun!
ReplyDeleteOh Linda you keep forgeting "It's all about them"! I love the fact too that they will spend our money alot faster then their own! Oh I love my kids! I truly do! Don't they help us see ourselves in our relationship with God! Oh ouch I think I got my lesson!
