A Fun Fact About Today!

An Englishman named Edward Lear
With his witty verse tickled the ear,
So the 12th of each May
Is now Limerick Day
To acknowledge his birthday each year!

Of course a word lover like I
Can’t resist the temptation to try
To post in a rhyme;
(It isn’t a crime!)
You should try – put it in your reply!

The subject can be anything -
From silly to contemplating
The ending of school,
Which kid last broke a rule,
Or what you like best about spring!

  2. It's May 12th
and you know what that means
rhyming must be in all things!

    Do it today!
    Cuz hope eternally springs!

Ok, it was fun, I admit it. We all need us some silly occasionally! :)

  3. Oh, Xandra, I know you are clever!
    C'mon, take a chance! Don't say "never",
    'Cause I bet you've a rhyme
    That we'll think is sublime-
If you're stumped, ask Grace, Nathan, or Trevor!

  4. And Julie, you are such a smartie
Thanks for joining the limerick party!
    It's really quite easy
To write rhymes that are cheesy,
And laughter is good for the heart-y!

  5. Clever though I may be,
    Rhyming is not for me

    The end.

  6. Blogging Queen typing away in her chair

While seeing the dust covering her royal furniture’s glare

“One should get up and wipe dust.”
Queenie tissues her nose, then adjusts…

“Should I stop blogging”…then sneezes away her dust cares!”

this was fun!! helped work my brain in a new way :)

  7. The 12th of may sounds like a day with sun.

full of playing, laughter and fun!

    But alas, it's not so
as I watch the black clouds grow

    Will this rain ever end?
    GIVE ME SUN!!!

    :)

  8. Yes, I so understand, Blogging Queen!
    The thing I hate most is to clean;
    'Tis more fun to read
All the blogs - yes indeed! -
'Cause by these friends my dust is unseen!

  9. Dear Sara, I so feel your pain,
This is not a good day for the rain!
    Just ignore the bad weather,
    Get your family together
And play games while at home you remain!

  10. I'm definately not good at this, let me see:

Today is the 12th of May
    Linda say's rhyme today
    I'm not good at rhyming
    so this is good timing
    to end this short poem
    and start cleaning my home!

    done!

  12. Kim, after you get yours to shine, Would you come down & help me with mine?
    We'll talk while we clean,
    (I'll provide the caffeine!)
    That's a day I'd call simply divine!

  13. Don't feel bad, Melody, goodness sakes,
You don't rhyme, but you sure ice those cakes!
    Though my talent's not sweet,
I can just hit "delete" -
It's much easier to fix my mistakes!

  16. A blogger gal named Mocha Lid
For limericks sent out a bid,
    Said her friend, 2nd Cup,
    "I've not even waked up"
So her poetry talent she hid.
