That will actually get them to camp a little earlier tomorrow than they need to arrive, but our youth minister didn't think the parents would be too thrilled about bringing the kids to the church at 3:00 a.m.
I love our youth minister!
So about 9:00 last night everyone got in their jammies and I did one last load of laundry. Jeans, denim shorts, etc. Heavy stuff.
And right in the middle of the cycle, the washer died.
As in kaput. D-E-A-D. We couldn't even get it to drain the water. So my man lifted the sodden heavy stuff out and squeezed the bulk of the water out of them and we put them in a big trash bag. He said, "You could probably just rinse them out in the sink." Uh, no thanks. A load of dainties, maybe. Heavy jeans, no way. So I got dressed and ran to a friend's house and ran it all through her rinse cycle.
By the time I got back, my husband had bailed.
The water, that is.
So much for eating bon bons while the kids are gone. At least our newest issue of Consumer Reports that just arrived has reviews of washing machines!

I can recommend a front loader. I really have enjoyed mine for the past few years. Also we splurged and got the set of drawers that go under neath the washer and dryer. It lifted both the washer and dryer up, no more bending over to get the cloths out. I love it.

It's always something isn't it? Hope the kids got off okay, and look on the bright side - a new washer is not bad!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
so it looks like someone is going shopping this week!!!
ReplyDeleteHope ya'll have as much fun as we did while the kids are away!!!
Have fun shopping for a new one!
ReplyDeleteI hate it when that happens. I have a front loader now, but before that my top loader did this to me a few times. My hubby took it apart into a million pieces, went online, ordered stuff, we waited, he reassembled and wa-la- it worked again. About 3 times over the years. It always happens when you most need it not to.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have friends.

Both of mine left this morning for camp, that neither of them were going to until Friday (for one) and yesterday (for the other)! So, I'm all alone again this week :(.
ReplyDeleteWe bought a front loader a while back and I love it!
Have a wonderful kid free time, and I hope they have a blast! My little one heads off to camp in July! Her first full week without me, or should I say me without her! She's thrilled! Me not so much!!!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I'm with you...rinsing heavy jeans in the sink is for the birds...no way!
ReplyDeleteHave a good time while the kids are away!
