My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you navigate the next few weeks. May God hold you in the palm of His hand and give you peace that surpasses all understanding.
Thank you, Linda. I've been praying for your father-in-law's passing...and another friend's dad who is in hospice, too. Will continue to pray for your family as details all come together to honor his earthly life.
When my husband's father died, someone gave up a book for family that was just AWESOME. Larry Libby's "Someday Heaven." You might have read it...but if not, it is a book that fills your thoughts of heaven. (A children's book...but good for adults, too!).
Linda, I am so sorry. And I agree with Linda...our hope in Christ gives us the ability to grieve and rejoice at the same time. Someone gave us a beautiful poem when my Aunt passed in March. I thought you might like it:
God looked around His Garden and He found an empty place. He then looked upon this earth and saw her weary face. He put His arms around her and lifted her to rest. God's garden must be beautiful..He always takes the best. He knew that she was suffering. He knew she was in pain. He knew she would never get well on earth again, so He closed her weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine" Up to Heaven with hands gentle and so kind It breaks our hearts to lose her, but she did not go alone For part of us went with her the day God called her home.
Death is such a challenge. What a blessing that your FIL is Home! Soon and very soon, we are all going to see the King, like that familiar song says. Praying for your family, the sadness- rejoicing that you will see him again someday!
Linda, I am sorry to hear about your loss but rejoicing that your FIL is no longer in pain. Alzheimer's is such an awful disease; my grandmother has it as well. Praying for you & your family.
Prayers and hugs for you throughout this week as you juggle all your responsibilities. I am saddened and glad that this well-loved man has graduated into Father's presence. To look in His glorious face... wow... what a thought.
I'm in my "fabulous fifties" and my husband and I have been married 25 years. We have a son and a daughter who are both in college. so we are reluctantly entering the empty-nest years. I was an RN in my former (pre-kids) life which comes in handy as I serve in our church's care ministry.
Chatting over a cup of coffee with a friend to encourage and support one another (and share a laugh or even a tear) is one of my favorite things to do.
God bless you and your family!

ReplyDeleteI've been out of contact with the blog world lately and am so sorry to hear about your father-in-law.
ReplyDeleteWell, I suppose I should be happy for him, as he has gone home. But it is so difficult for those that are still left behind.
You and your family have my prayers.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure he will be missed but what a relief to release him to the Father's care and to know he is free from the pain and suffering.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of your loss. I was wondering where you were last night...I guess that answers my question.
