Last night was a heartbreaker for Longhorn fans as they lost to Alabama in the quest for the National Championship.
But it is, after all, just a game. And fortunately, some of the Texas players have already won The Big One. I was so touched to see this article, especially on a secular site, about the Longhorns who are committed Christians.
And anyone who watched the game and the on-field interviews immediately following saw Texas's injured quarterback, Colt McCoy, who had every human reason to be bitter, say this.
He's not perfect. He's still a sinner like the rest of us. He may stumble as he transitions to life after college, especially if he enters the world of the NFL. But what an encouragement in the days of overinflated egos to see a player with this dedication to Christ.
The Longhorns lost the game, but Colt McCoy won the challenge placed before him last night.

This is a great post, Linda! I didn't watch the game, but I work with a bunch of 'Bama fans who are well pleased this morning. But you know what? They are saying many positive things about the TX quarterback this morning too!

An Auburn Fan...
We're both blogging football today.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Tim Tebow fan myself, but Colt is #2. :-)
I'm not a sports fan but I've been impressed to read/ hear about Colt McCoy this morning. That's great he's giving God the glory! I enjoyed that article you linked to.

ReplyDeleteWow. I had not watched the game (went to bed early) but I am so very impressed by this young man. God certainly does get the glory when it comes to Colt McCoy.
ReplyDeleteTotally, completely awesome! They are already winner!
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED both your Larnelle Harris song, and your words about Colt McCoy. We are DIE hard Longhorn fans, my husband and his dad both went there and their blood runs orange! But most of all, Colt's tesimony is such a huge blessing, it is just so great to hear a young guy like that take a stand and speak out for Jesus Christ.
I was sad though... I think it might have been a different outcome if he hadn't been injured. But, like we know... this is only a game. I keep telling my husband that!!!
Blessings!
Sonja
