Breaking News

This is the scene where a small plane crashed into an office building a couple of hours ago. I drive past this building several times a week.

Of course, all the news stations are onsite with continual coverage and trying to beat everyone else to the punch in reporting. And, with apologies to any of my friends in the journalism field, it amazes me the things that these reporters say. One reporter asked an eyewitness who was in a parking lot across the street when the plane crashed into the building, "Does this remind you of anything?" The eyewitness just gave him "a look" and said "Well, of course it does!!"

Please pray for all those involved.

  1. I had not heard about the crash, I don't ever turn the TV on. When my hubby comes in he always has it on a news channel I hate to heard about all the bad things, the news never has anything to say about Good things when they happen

  8. I saw it on the MSN homepage. You're right about the reporters. They aren't very creative or sensitive with their questions sometimes.

  9. I've been following that today. I can hardly believe the death toll wasn't higher. I'm so thankful it wasn't worse and that it wasn't a terrorist act. Sorry for the families involved.

  10. I've been watching this on CNN throughout the afternoon. When things like this happen I am always left wondering how anyone could have so little respect for life? Very sad.

  11. I am so thankful the injury report wasn't worse.

That reporter was trying to incite rumors ans speculation. I mean, they can't actually start a rumor, and if one "accidentally" spans from an innocent question, it really isn't their fault, is it?

  12. Two weeks after we moved in a plane crashed into a house in our subdivision, 100 yards from our back door. I know the feeling and I also know how dumb reporters can be.

  13. They're vultures. They did the same thing when we were all evacuated for Gustav. You could practically see them salivating for another Katrina, even though it would affect hundreds of thousands of people.

I am so glad you and your family were not hurt, and hope that there are not too many casualties.

  14. Way too close!!

I'm so glad you are ok!!!

News reporters can be amazingly stupid. I've heard them say things to families of survivors like, "Were you worried?"
"Are you glad so-and-so is ok?"
"Did you ever expect this to happen?"

They really should just stick to the facts.

BTW, that's me at the far left on the ladder.

OK, I'd be there helping if I could.

I'm sure this has affected you ...perhaps more than you realize. Say a thank you prayer. Pray for the victims and the rescue workers. And TRY not to let it monopolize you completely.

    You have my prayers.

  15. I just saw it on the news. This type of thing is always scary, but it makes it so much more real just by knowing you.
    Take care.

  16. We used to live in Austin so I think I know the area this happened. It makes me sad to think this man was so broken that he thought this was the answer.
I found you through Texas Blogging Gals and came by to say hello. Look forward to reading more about you. Come on by http://lonestarlifer.wordpress.com/ and say howdy.

  17. Wow. I live in Wichita, KS, and I read about this on the front page of the Wichita Eagle Newspaper. It's very sad. The article said his wife and daughter drove up to their home and it was ingulfed in flames, and they were crying, "That's our house!". It's so sad that a person has to destroy so many other people's lives. If they are depressed and dont get help and they want to kill themselves, they should do just that--themselves--and not do anything to hurt their family or others. Why did he burn his house down and leave his wife and daughter without a home? If he was so unhappy and wanted to kill himself, why didnt he just drive his car 100 mph into a tree or off a cliff or something? Why did he have to hurt other people? But his mind was demented and he thought he was paying back the government, I suppose. I dont know. So sad.
