Now we're in the midst of the Women's competition. And my heart goes out to Canada's Joannie Rochette whose mom died suddenly last Saturday. I hope she has a great event.
And can I just say how aggravating it was that last night, right before Korea's Kim Yu-Na skated, our station lost the signal. So my girl and I, who were watching together, didn't see her, Joannie Rochette, or USA's Rachael Flatt skate. I could only look at the results online. I'm glad it was just the first night and not the free skate! And it wasn't even a problem to stay up to watch it because the kids have a late start today because of the snow.
1. Have you ever fired a gun or shot a bow and arrow?
When I was a Girl Scout leader, we did archery at a camp. And years and years ago we spent Thanksgiving at one of the in-laws' extended family's home in the country and did the clay pigeon thing. I think I only did it once or twice.
I'm dangerous enough with a glue gun!
2. Do you know where your childhood best friends are?
If by "childhood" you mean elementary/junior high, no. But I do know where my closest high school friends are.
3. Do you usually arrive early, late, or on time?
If I'm not 10 minutes early, I'm late.
4. Are you more of a New York or California type?
Actually, I'm more of a Texas gal. And I know this is your response to that answer:
5. Do you have a special ring tone?
Casting Crowns' Until The Whole World Hears
6. What is your favorite type of chip?
7. Best comedy you've ever seen is ....
I never saw him in person but Victor Borge was hilarious. So is Mark Lowry.
8. Have you ever cut your own hair? To quote Dr. Phil, "How'd that work for ya?"
Never. I'm way too chicken.
9. If you were going to have an extreme makeover, would you rather it be about your house or your personal self?
My house. Because of course I'm so beautiful I don't need a makeover.
Yeah, right.
Decor is so not my thing. Nor is gardening. I'd love to have someone come in and landscape the front yard and put in flowers and shrubs that are just right for the climate and the house.
10. Are you allergic to anything?
Penicillin.
And housekeeping.
11. Why is it so hard to change?
Because we like the familiar. We fear the unknown. Plus, change requires discipline and hard work. And we have this thing called a sin nature that is allergic to that.
12. One last question dedicated to February love: CS Lewis said, "To love is to be vulnerable." Please share one example of that assertion or share any thought you'd like to about this topic.
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (I John 3:16)

#1 yes and yes. I wasn't very good with the bow and arrow and didn't even pose much of a threat to the target, but I am an excellent shot with both rifles and handguns and have even shot in competitions.
ReplyDeleteAllergic to housekeeping, huh? That sounds quite serious. Perhaps you should sit down and eat a bon bon to recuperate!...I'm gonna try that one on my dh!
ReplyDeleteOh, you answered # 11 & # 12 so well. I told Nel I don't think well after midnight...my answers reflect that. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved your Gomer Pyle and Victor Borge.
I'm allergic to laundry!
# 11 and # 12.....amen and amen....great post!
ReplyDeleteCasting Crowns is one of my favs! Enjoyed your answers today!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who really IS allergic to housework -- the kind that involves chemical bathroom cleaners. At the ER, in front of her husband, the doctor said, "you'll have to get someone else to clean your bathrooms." Talk about joyful response!
ReplyDeleteI'm not very good at decor either. Great answer on the last one!
ReplyDeleteWell Gollyeee, I knew you'd say that! Haahaha. I love cheetos too. We would fight over the bag.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with #3! Loved your answers!
ReplyDeleteWe have satellite tv and lost the signal halfway thru American Idol last night. We were flipping back and forth between that and the Olympics. So annoying. We got about another 7 or 8 inches of snow and yay! lucky us they are calling for that again tomorrow. And Friday. Come on spring!
ReplyDeleteI hope the Canadian skater does well too...such a heartbreaking story. I can't imagine. And I have loved the ice dancing this year too-first time ever. I watched the trials on tv with my mom and got hooked. I did not enjoy the mens singles this year...weird I thought.
Ooooo, Olympics, I have been glued to the tv. Joannie skated beautifully and has come in third so far. Her courage is breaking my heart. I was absolutely thrilled for the Canadian kids who won gold in the dance and I thought USA's free dance was incredible and was actually surprised they didn't get higher. The Russians looked a bit ticked. And isn't it something about the Dutch speed skater getting dq'd. Wow, lots of drama at this Olympics!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, this is a random dozen. LOL. I'm allergic to housekeeping too. But I plug away at it anyway. LOL. I'm desperate for someone to help me out with my landscaping. I so don't know what I'm doing and it shows.
Loved your answers, especially the last one. And the glue gun on #1. You are to funny!
ReplyDeleteuntil next time... nel
I should have mentioned my fierce vacuuming allergy (which I try to valiently overcome at least once per month). Heh.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers!
I was also saddened by Rochette's loss of her mother. It has to take incredible strength for her to continue with the competition.
ReplyDeleteAs for your randoms...I am a very good markswoman both with archery and guns. I guess I have a good eye and steady hand. I haven't done either in a very long time and never did either for hunting, just target shooting. Maybe I should visit a firing range!
Love your list, Linda! I had to laugh cause right before I sat down to surf the random dozen, I opened a bag of cheetos! They didn't even make MY list...but lo and behold here they are on yours! So, I'm eating my cheetos (which I SO DON'T NEED) in honor of YOU!
ReplyDelete:-) Susan
I didn't answer #4 properly, either! :)
ReplyDeleteVictor Borge was SO talented! We love watching his specials on PBS.
Love the verse on #12! I love Mark Lawry's humor too. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice for a ringtone.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd choose a home makeover too!
awesome answers :)
ReplyDeleteI've loved ice dancing ever since Torvill and Dean's Bolero routine however many years ago that was. I loved both of the top two routines this year, and definitely liked Belbin/Agosto's performance more than the Russians'.
ReplyDeleteI really felt for Joannie Rochette and got aggravated at the cameramen for getting right in her face when she came off the ice -- but, then, they do that to everyone.
Love Victor Borge!
And your answer to #11 is the best I've seen so far.
#3 - Absolutely RIGHT!
ReplyDelete#9 - YES! Why wasn't GARDEN a choice? I have been begging for landscaping for 23 years!!! I have two black thumbs and 8 purple fingers and a yard that looks like the city dump! GOOD answer!
Oh Linda... youngest child that you are.... ;)
ReplyDeleteMy fondest memories are my dad teaching me to fire a gun... on Saturday mornings...ahhhhh, that is another story in itself... my sister fought over daddy...
loved your answers...great to talk to you again....
blessings
Connie
I'm so glad I'm not the only one around "here" with an allergy to penicillin lol. It's great to be a southern gal isn't it? I loved that you put pictures in your response as well--I may have to try that next time lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers and I love seeing videos of Victor Borge and I love Gomer!
ReplyDelete3. haha if I'm 10 minutes late I'm early!
ReplyDeleteI'm still giggling about you being dangerous with a glue gun! Enjoyed reading your answers fellow Linda!
ReplyDeleteWe once did archery in PE at school. I was terrible.
ReplyDeleteFavorite chip: Garden Salsa sun chips are THE BOMB.
