ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Marlo Schalesky is the author of several acclaimed novels, including Christy Award winner Beyond the Night. A graduate of Stanford University, Marlo also has a masters of theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. She’s a regular columnist for Power for Living and lives with her husband, Bryan, and five children in California.



MY THOUGHTS:
I have mixed feelings about this book. There was much I liked about it--the storyline, the way Marnie's heart changed and was softened by Emmit's joyful nature, the thread of romance and second chances. But the ending took an unexpected turn, and I didn't think it was appropriate, realistic, or even explained clearly enough. I was left feeling unsettled, confused, and disappointed by the final pages. I can't really explain what bothered me without it being a spoiler. And plenty of others loved the whole story.
