What happens when the boy she loved to hate becomes the man she hates to love?
The 1920s are drawing to a close, and feisty Katie O'Connor is the epitome of the new woman--smart and sassy with goals for her future that include the perfect husband and a challenging career in law. Her boyfriend Jack fits all of her criteria for a husband--good-looking, well-connected, wealthy, and eating out of her hand. But when she is forced to spend the summer of 1929 with Luke McGee, the bane of her childhood existence, Katie comes face-to-face with a choice. Will she follow her well-laid plans to marry Jack? Or will she fall for the man she swore to despise forever?
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Julie Lessman is the author of A Passion Most Pure, A Passion Redeemed, and A Passion Denied. Lessman has garnered several writing awards, including ten Romance Writers of America awards. She lives in Missouri.
MY THOUGHTS:
I absolutely loved this book. The story takes so many twists and turns that it practically left me breathless. Every time I decided that it was about to be resolved, another complication would arise. Katie was a spoiled brat as the story opened but she endeared herself to me as she allowed her heart to be softened toward those less fortunate and as she discovers that she is more blessed than she ever knew. This is a thoroughly satisfying read, and I hated to turn the last page.
Available September 2010 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.

I read the description and thought to myself that it sounds like the same old type of story but then in your comments you said it had a lot of surprising twists and turns. Hmm, now I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteI've got this one up today too. It was good wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteWow! I'll have to check it out at the library. I bet she has a million sign ups.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed A Hope Undaunted and am a big fan of Julie Lessman.
ReplyDeleteI found the characters to be fairly three dimensional and enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters, Katie and Luke - although at times I was surprised by Katie’s sudden abrupt turns. The O’Connor family is true to form in their larger-than-life sort of Irish personalities and entertaining as always.
