No, not my birthday. Linda over at 2nd Cup of Coffee had us all contribute a question for this week's RD in honor of her birthday yesterday.
1. From "Men Are Dumb ....": If you had a theme song that played whenever you walked into a room full of people, what would it be?
Anything by John Williams. Or. . .
2. From Pam of "Alert And Oriented x 4": Which of your shoes are your absolute favorite, and which are of the object of your most painful shoe-buyer's remorse?
The painful ones are long gone, and there have been several.
My favorites are these. I can't wear them for hours on end because of my plantar fasciitis, but I love to wear them to church in the summer.
3. From Susanne of "Living to Tell the Story": Tell about your favorite birthday celebration that you've personally experienced.
My fortieth birthday, when my husband planned a non-surprise, surprise party. (He knew he couldn't pull it off without my knowing about it, especially since it would be at our house. But I didn't know who was invited, what we were having to eat, or anything else, and I had to stay in the bedroom while some friends helped him decorate. He got bar-b-q from County Line with all the trimmings, and we all had a great time!
4. From Lori of "Just me and My Life": If you were a flavor of ice cream, which would you be?
Well, since I would certainly hope I would like myself, I'll say Blue Bell Mocha Almond Fudge (Coffee ice cream accented with chopped roasted almonds and a rich chocolate sundae sauce.)
5. Cindy Swanson of "Notes in the Key of Life" asks: Have you ever had a crush on a movie star? Who was it, and are you still crushing?
Not a movie star, but a celebrity. Tom Netherton, on the Lawrence Welk Show when I was about 10-13, prime crush ages! He was tall, handsome, and a Christian, and he had a great voice! (He's not dead, I'm just describing him as he was in the early 1970s!)
6. Jill from "Jill Boyd's Place" inquires: Glasses or braces--if you had to wear one, which would it be?
I had to wear both and I'm glad, although it wasn't particularly fun. I guess the braces are best, since they are short-lived! I wore glasses from third grade until my Lasik surgery almost seven years ago, and I am starting to occasionally need weak reading glasses, mostly at night or in dim light.
7. Nel from "Fasteneau Facts" asks: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Now why would I want to live anywhere but Texas?!
8. Thena from "Patiently Waiting" wants to know: If money were no obstacle, what would be the perfect birthday gift to receive?
A maid. Unlimited spa visits for massages.
9. From "Life Through Bifocals," LynnMarie asks: What is your favorite birthday meal?
Filet mignon, salad, baked potato, roasted asparagus.
10. Debby at "Just Breathe" checks in with: Do you still send hand-written thank you notes?
Yes.
11. Linda from "Mocha with Linda" poses this question: What is something you've done that you never thought you'd do?
Buy a Texas A&M t-shirt for one of my kids.
12. Jewel, my homegirl from Indiana who writes at "Musings from the World of Jewel," is very insistent that we answer this: Mount Rushmore honors four US Presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt. If you could add any person to Mount Rushmore, who would you add and why?
Since you said any person, I'll step away from politics and choose Billy Graham, because he has had an incredible impact on our country, our presidents, and the world. And he has remained a humble servant of God with no hint of scandal.
Your turn!
Billy Graham is a perfect choice. chances are he'd decline the honor, though.
ReplyDeleteOh you Texans are so funny : )
ReplyDeleteI love your answer to the last question...it makes absolute perfect sense!
I love your shoes! They look so cute and comfortable!!
ReplyDeleteYour surprise birthday sounds like something I did to Mom on her 40th (last September). Although all she knew was that Dad invited the Smigels to come up with a tent for the Boy Scout troop, and he happened to invite a couple friends. We even got the tables from downstairs to outside, without her knowing! We even had to go behind her! It sounds like your non-surprise surprise birthday was fun though!
Have you ever had filet mignon wrapped in bacon? That is really good, Dad made it for a New Years Eve party one year.
Loved all of your answers!!
Cae
I had to laugh out loud at your answer to #7. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the shoes ... although as a fellow sufferer of plantar fasciitis, I know the heartbreak of not being able to wear our favorite shoes for very long. :-(
Linda, I loved your answer about Texas--in my replies, I said that's where I would live if I had the choice! I've seen a cute plaque that says, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!" :)
ReplyDeleteAnd your Tom Netherton reply brought back memories. My husband and I actually went to see him in concert during our Bible college days, circa 1979.
Blessings!
1 and 7- Texans, Gotta love um! I love loyalty and ya'll are such a loyal bunch!
ReplyDelete5. I used to watch Lawrence Welk with my Grammy. Great memories. Who knew that he owned rights to the Stepford Wives. haha. jk.
8. OH YES!!
9. Are you sure you aren't reading my mind today?
10. Handwritten Thank You Notes- A MUST!
Amazing answers, Linda!
ReplyDeleteYour birthday dinner has me drooling, LOL!
I also listened to the song...I LOVE Texas but I don't have any family there anymore...
Liked the Billy Graham answer, loved the birthday meal and...I guess Austin would be a place I could live too. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat answers and Billy Graham was a really good idea.
ReplyDeletePerhaps there should be a monument in the US...built w/private funds, of course, so the ACLU can't complain...of our spiritual heritage, with folks like Billy Graham featured, along with the 10 commandments and other historical references to the foundational faith of our country...
ReplyDeleteFor all I know, there might be such a place somewhere that just doesn't get a lot of publicity.
I complained about doing braces and glasses at the same time, too, (from the time I was 22 - 24, complete w/headgear, which I had to wear to my job!). I don' t know that I'll ever get up the nerve for LASIK. The idea of staying awake while someone works on my eyes...shudder!!!
Cute shoes! Very sweet on the surprise party. Your answer is very different from most on the crush. He was a cutie! Made is a good answer. Actually my husband has been pushing me for years but I have trust issues with having one in our home. That is a great birthday dinner, I would enjoy it.
ReplyDelete#7: Ummmm, heat & humidity?
ReplyDelete#11: Atta girl! Gig 'em! (My dad and most of my uncles/cousins are alum!)
Sorry, just had to rib you a bit! :D
You answered #12 perfectly. And Quilly is so right, he's too humble to accept it.
ReplyDeleteOh, these are great answers! If I thought back to when I was 13ish....I'd have to say I had a heavy crush on Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains). And he turned out to be a huge Christian influence in today's society. Kudos to him!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, great minds think alike, our answer to #12. I have those same Vaneli shoes in the bronze color. I'm a big fan of Vaneli because they have cute shoes in narrow sizes. :o) Blessings my friend!
ReplyDeleteLoved your shoes, your theme song :), and your answer to #12! What a great choice!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit over here, but I heard about your "Texas" reply from Tara (@ Showing my Roots) & totally had to drop by & say hello from another Texan! When I get a chance, I'm going to come back over here & get to know you a little bit! Take care!
ReplyDeleteYour non-surprise surprise birthday sounds exactly how it would have to happen here.
ReplyDeleteCute shoes.
Lasik? You had Lasik? Oh, I'm so envious!
ReplyDeleteAnd your answer to your own question made me laugh. I wonder if you were thinking of that when you asked it.
