Wednesday Hodgepodge

Woohoo! My man got my laptop fixed just in time for me to join Joyce From This Side of the Pond for Wednesday Hodgepodge! And Murphy is alive and well and full of aggravating laws: our internet connection has been spotty all day. I'm hoping I can get this written and posted without losing it! (Both the connection and my patience! LOL)

1. What is the most interesting thing you've done in the last year?

Let's see; my boy went to Thailand on a mission trip and my girl went on a mission trip to Guatemala. Can I live vicariously through their interesting experiences?! Probably the most interesting thing I have personally been involved in has been hosting GG, our foreign exchange "daughter" from Germany! We are all loving it!

2. What is your most meaningful family heirloom?

Now Amy Grant's song is running through my head! This is kind of a funny one, but I love having my mom's sifter. It works better than any other that I've used, and it's full of sweet memories!

3. What food festival would you most like to attend? If you're not sure click here to see a list of possibilities.

A Chocolate Festival, of course!

4. Snow...do you love it or is it considered a four letter word where you live?

If I lived up north, I know I would get tired of it, but since Central Texas rarely gets any and I've never seen more than two inches, I still love it.

5. Can you ski? Do you ski? Are you any good?

Well, I guess I have seen more than two inches on the one ski trip I've been on. But it wasn't freshly falling! And no, I was not successful in learning to ski. I wasn't even successful in getting off the moving lift by myself!

6. What quality in your spouse or best friend are you most thankful for?

Faithfulness.

7. Describe the coziest spot in your home.

The corner of my living room with my comfy chair, my laptop, and my books, especially when my girl is practicing the piano, like she is right now. And my kitchen when good smells are happening.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I love Christmas music! KSBJ radio (89.3 FM) in Houston began playing continuous Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving. (Their website streams their regular Christian music.) I hated driving out of its range Monday evening!

  3. Oh my word...I love Amy Grant (even got to see her when she performed a free concert on the Gulf Coast this summer), but I've never heard of this song! Thank you for sharing it!!

Loved your answers...especially your comfy spot watching your daughter play piano. Makes me miss my girl and watching her play soccer.

    Have a great day!

  5. Ugh ... I hate it when the internet doesn't play nicely! Doubly frustrating since you had to do without it with your laptop out of commission!

Your cozy spot sounds awesome! ;-)

  6. I'm totally with you on the chocolate festival! Your cozy spot sounds really nice. My kids are re-starting piano lessons today after a break b/c their teacher had a baby. I can't wait to hear them practice again!

  7. That cozy spot sounds nice...especially with your laptop to keep you warm :)

I'll bet hosting an exchange student is enlightening--to share our country and its customs with another would be awesome, not to mention learning about their country and customs from them.

  8. I have never heard the song before but it is really beautiful.
A chocolate festival now why didn't I think of that?

  9. I have my grandmother's old milk glass salt and pepper shakers. I love them. I can't look at them without seeing my grandmother wrapped in her apron and standing in the kitchen.

  11. Can't we get cranky when our laptops aren't behaving? :o) I can't stand not to be "in the loop."

Loved your answer to #6, faithfulness, I'm sorry I didn't think of that. I mean, really!

Enjoyed stopping by and wishing you much happiness this holiday season!

  12. I love Christmas music, too. I need to turn some on while I'm putting ornaments on the tree. Right now I'm on a decorating break.

My son spent a year in Thailand with Campus Crusade for Christ. My children are all better traveled than I.

  13. Yes, a chocolate festival would be good! We have a local station that has been playing Christmas music since November 1st. I sure have been enjoying it.

  14. Love that Amy Grant song.

Also love your mom's sifter. It's neat to have something of hers that you use and not merely admire.

Hope you enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving!

  15. Hi, Linda. Thanks for dropping by my new blog. I enjoyed reading your answers. I'm equipping my new kitchen, and a sifter is one thing I still need. I love baking so it's near the top of my wish list.
