I just love this old hymn from my childhood. And seeing this men's choir just makes me smile. When I was growing up, my church would periodically have the men form the choir on Sunday nights. Watching videos like this reminds me of all the churches scattered across the country - and the world! - where faithful worshipers gather and sing praises week after week. The megachurches are often in the forefront, yet half of the evangelical churches in America have less than 75 attendees, and 90% of churches have less than 350 members. And I know that the songs of praise lifted by the tiniest congregation is every bit as sweet to God's ears as those raised by the professionally trained choir!
Please visit Amy's for more songs for your weekend and to give her a prayerful word of support and encouragement; her dad was recently diagnosed with cancer and was referred to Hospice last week.
God even likes it when I sing, although many people disagree with him on that one little point.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard this song before. Thanks for sharing. I just joined Then Signs My Soul Saturday also. :)

ReplyDeleteAll thumbs up! I sang along to see if I still remember the lyrics. I made the entire first stanza :) I'm so happy this is what I see on your post today; used to sing this in church, and I never heard this in ages. It's great to remember.

Great choice!!
I remember singing this song in church years ago. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
ReplyDeleteTakes me back. I love your comments, too, Linda, that most churches are small, and their praise is just as sweet to the Lord as any megachurch.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this song! Brings memory of my dad to hear him sing next to me when I was a little girl. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is the pastor of one of those small churches! It is good for us to be reminded that there still are many, many of them!
ReplyDeleteAnd this song was one of the favorites of Sunday evening services when I was a teenager. I still like it! And I LOVE to hear a good men's chorus!
That was great, Linda. I love to hear the men sing.
