The theme was God's love, and our speaker talked about some of the obstacles that keep us from truly experiencing or sensing God's love. The sessions simultaneously ministered to my weary heart and convicted me. I'm going to be mulling over them in the days to come. That may result in some sharing here on the blog, or it may mean some days the blog is quiet.
There is still much going on in my life with my sister's Alzheimer's and my own health and some tests I ams undergoing as a result of lingering effects of the car wreck I had in February. So my goal this week is trying to balance the "do" that comes with all of that with the "be" that God calls me to and relying on him, not my own self-sufficiency.
And here's a good verse to remember as I begin the busy day:
But when the kindness and love
of God our Savior appeared, He saved us,
not because of righteous things we had done,
but because of His mercy.
(Titus 3:4-5)

Excellent verse. I pray God strengthens and blesses you this week.
yes, an excellent verse for all of us! Praying for you this week!! I did not know your sister had Alzheimer's. Does she live near you?
Love the balancing the "Be" with the "Do"
Nothing helps put life into perspective like a good spiritual retreat. We get to be uplifted and convicted all at the same time.
Sorting out the being and the doing.....will be praying for you in this process.
Blessings

Thinking of you Linda and praying you find peace amidst all your trials in this season of hope.
Remember that prayer is also a "doing" thing, and it doesn't require great physical stress. I have just put you on my prayer list. I don't know why I didn't do so sooner!
LInda, will pray for you and your family. Do you have a post on your sister's situation that I can go back to?
I hope you have a blessed Tuesday!
I love that verse!
Oh I am sorry to listen about your sister Alzheimer's and my prayers are with you,I want to encourage you.
Thank you for sharing with us.
I am glad, Linda, that you go to go the the ladies' retreat.
Retreats are like putting premium gasoline in a car. They clean out and give new and refreshing ideas on how to serve God and enjoy doing it.
We have one we plan on attending in July but I think it will be a more fun thing than a religious experience. Another one in October would be much better but we might not make that one. Our pastor will lead this one.
