In this fictional Diary of a Teenage Girl titled Becoming Me, sixteen-year-old Caitlin O'Conner reveals the inner workings of a girl caught between childhood and womanhood ... an empty life without Christ and a meaningful one with Him. Through Caitlin's candid journal entries we see her grapple with such universal teen issues as peer pressure, loyalty, conflict with parents, the longing for a boyfriend, and her own spirituality.

Follow Caitlin O'Conner as she makes her way from New Year's to the first day of summer - surviving a challenging home life, changing friends, school pressures, an identity crisis, and the uncertainties of "true love."

Caitlin experiences heartache, and encounters a new reality in her life: God. See how rejection by one group can - incredibly - sometimes lead you to discover who you really are...

MY THOUGHTS:
Although this is not a new release, this book is definitely still as timely as it was when it was originally released a decade ago. Melody Carlson has a knack for capturing the angst and drama of teenage girls - the pressures of fitting in with the popular crowd, the challenges of girl friendships, the desperate desire to belong and feel special, the temptations that come with not enough supervision and, the realization that even the "good church kids" deal with the same struggles and temptations as their secular friends. This would be an excellent book for any high school girl to read and especially for a teenage girls' book club led by a Godly mentor.
