One Family's Amazing Adoption Journey

Kelly & John Rosati
(Tyndale)
ISBN: 978-1589976535
November 2011/102 pages/$13.99

There are over 130 million orphans worldwide. The pro-life/pro-choice debate continues to consume politics and everyday conversations. Readers want to know what they can do to make a difference on these issues. Wait No More tells Kelly and John Rosati’s story of experiencing God more fully through the great blessings and challenges encountered during their journey to adopt four children from the U.S. foster care system. It is a story of God’s faithfulness to grow a beautiful family, through adoption, from the ashes of child abuse, neglect, and abandonment. The Rosatis strongly believe that God’s solution for orphaned children in the foster care system involves ordinary Christians desiring to live out an authentic pro-life commitment requiring action, not just words. Their story reveals how their beliefs challenged, enriched, and completely changed their family’s life.

MY THOUGHTS:

This is an inspiring, encouraging, and convicting book; the Rosatis are a testimony of God's faithfulness and love and you will be touched reading about the blessings they have reaped as a result of their obedience in opening their hearts and their home to the children who now call them Mom and Dad. But what made me appreciate them the most and know they are the "real deal" is not the beautiful pictures taken on each Adoption Finalization Day, nor the descriptions of the days they met each child and felt the first stirrings of love within their hearts. Rather, it was the authenticity of this book---their honest sharing about the struggles they encountered, the doubts they had along the way, even the lack of attachment they struggled with at times. Christians can so easily paint a rosy "it's all wonderful" picture of following God, and I appreciated their openness in sharing that, while they can't imagine life without any of their four children, there were days that they wondered how they would survive the process. Don't miss the opportunity to get to know this special family. And then prayerfully consider how God might use you to make a difference in the life of a child who has no one to love him or her.
