Wednesday Hodgepodge Preps for Summer

I love participating with Joyce's Hodgepodge on Wednesday. It's always interesting to see what questions she comes up with!

1. What is a pet peeve you have when vacationing?
People who don't pay attention to the tour guides and think they can touch things or step in places they were told not to.

2. Would you describe yourself as a light packer or do you need everything in your closet plus the kitchen sink?

Light to medium. I pretty much just take the basics. Although I do tend to take a couple of extra outfits. I hate being completely tied down to wearing a certain pre-determined outfit every day.

3. What's the best lesson a child ever taught you?

Drawing a blank on this one, but I'm sure there have been plenty!

4. Share one piece of advice you'd give a recent graduate as they attempt to enter the job market?

Respect those who have been around the block a few times. Don't act like you are the "be all and end all" for the company.

I had to stop and look up "be all and end all" to see where that expression came from. It's from Macbeth. And eventually people shortened it to "the b's and e's" (for the be all and end all), and eventually, "the b's and e's" became "the bees knees".

5. What's your favorite lemon something?

Fresh-squeezed lemonade!

6. Flat sandal, wedge, heel...your favorite footwear?

I prefer a flat sandal, but my plantar fascitis requires that I have a little bit of a heel; I don't care if it's a wedge or not.

7. What do you like best about a beach holiday? If you're not a beach lover (GASP!!) what do you dislike the least?

The sound of the water - so peaceful!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

My boy comes home from college today!

  1. I've often wondered where "the bees knees" came form. I always picture a bee with little knobby knees! Thanks for the info :)

  6. Hmmm that's interesting, I'm talking about the be all end all, bees knees thing. I love watching how language evolved over time.

  8. I'm late to the party...didn't get to visit many people due to work. Had to smile at your random thought. My girl just left for summer session, and I'm missing her terribly. I know you're going to enjoy your own visit.
