The article also quotes a securities investment director: "People are examining, 'Do you keep the yacht, do you go to the classic car auction, do you take the private jet?'"
Just the sort of things that keep me awake at night! What about you?

Oh, sure. I ponder those things all the time. Right along with whether I should buy store brand or the REAL stuff when I shop. And I also consider whether my roots can wait for the next payday before being touched up. The yacht is just a side issue. Must be nice!
Oh dear, that just makes me laugh. It's so crazy the things that are important to some. Our preacher talked about that Sunday. They'd just got back from a trip to Nicaragua and he noted how different our "necessities" are from the people there.

Yeah, my pity runs deep for those with such gut-wrenching decisions...
i rolled pennies tonight.
We live in a very small town: 1/2 mile x 1/2 mile, 115-123 people depending on who is moving in or out at the time. When we say we are 'going to town', we mean 20 miles from the edge of ours to the edge of the town we can shop in. People in larger towns may not think about how far it is to the grocery store but for us it is 25 miles one way. The way we pinch pennys is to wait until our shopping list, which includes more than just groceries, is WAY big or we just absolutely HAVE to go for something, then we do the whole list while we are there.
On a different note, everyone has their own priorities in spending and saving. I save on gas to only do shopping occasionally: a friend of mine recycles foil until it is falling apart before she gets out the roll for a new sheet!
