A reluctant war hero returns home and encounters a new chance at love.
No sooner has Shawn Collins returned home from the fighting in Europe than he is called upon to serve his country in another way--as a speaker on the war bond tour. While other men might jump at the chance to travel around the country with attractive Hollywood starlets, Shawn just wants to stay home with his son Patrick and his aging father, and grieve the loss of his wife in private. When Shawn asks Katherine Townsend to be Patrick's nanny while he's on the road, he has no idea how this decision will impact his life. Could it be the key to his future happiness and the mending of his heart? Or will the war once again threaten his chances for a new start?
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

MY THOUGHTS:
I thoroughly enjoyed The Unfinished Gift (my review is here), so I was delighted that a Dan Walsh wrote a follow-up book. This is a tender story of a family coping with their own tragedy in the midst of the upheaval of World War II. Sent home on temporary leave when his wife is killed in a car accident, Shawn grieves his loss and cherishes time spent with his son, Patrick. The war stops for no man, however, and soon duty calls Shawn back into service. Concerned about his dad's failing health, Shawn asks Patrick's social worker, Katherine Townsend, to take care of his son until he is released from duty. Still reeling from the death of his wife, Shawn is caught by surprise when Katherine begins to invade his thoughts, and he is torn between keeping her at arms length and opening his heart. The Homecoming is a heartwarming tale of love, faith, and family.
The Homecoming is available directly from the publisher as well as Amazon and other bookstores.
