It's a Battle of Wills ... and Love Is on the Line!
Rural switchboard operator Georgie Gail is proud of her independence in a man's world . . . which makes it twice as vexing when the telephone company sends a man to look over her shoulder.
Dashing Luke Palmer is more than he appears though. He's a Texas Ranger working undercover to infiltrate a notorious gang of train robbers. Repairing telephones and tangling with this tempestuous woman is the last thing he wants to do. But when his stakeout puts Georgie in peril, he realizes more than his job is on the line.
Rave reviews are already pouring in:
"Gist does it again with a superb cast of characters. She is a master at weaving together her trademark independent heroine, entertaining action based on historical events and love that melts your heart. Her latest project [Love on the Line] will certainly keep her fans longing for more." --Romantic Times
"The characters are imaginative and likeable, while the plot keeps the pages turning." --CBA Retailers Magazine
MY THOUGHTS:
When I curl up with a book by Deeanne Gist, I know I'm in for a treat and Love on the Line may be her most charming novel yet! Deeanne's trademark is taking an actual historical situation and creating a delightful story around it, and she has a knack for seamlessly blending fact and fiction so that it's difficult to tell the difference between the two. What a fun peek this was into the early days of the telephone, complete with a switchboard operator, party lines (with nosy eavesdroppers!), and a lineman perilously climbing the poles with spikes on his boots! Deeanne has once again created a town whose characters leapt off the page and into my heart. Just the right amount of danger and suspense combines with romance and sheer fun to make this a completely satisfying read. My only complaint is that now I am once again waiting for her next release!

Like you I loved this story! When I wasn't biting my nails I was laughing out loud -- and the surprises in the story were truly surprising. I am hoping for a sequel. I would especially like to hear Bettina's story.
