MY THOUGHTS

Susan Page Davis adds an unusual twist to the mail-order bride scenario in this enjoyable historical romance. I can't even imagine living back in the day when settlers were so vulnerable to violence and outlaws. Davis creates sympathetic and likable characters and even though Johnny didn't make the best choice in assuming his brother's identity, I couldn't help but hold my breath wanting everything to work out smoothly! While the happily-ever-after ending is somewhat predictable given the genre, the author provides plenty of obstacles and hold-your-breath moments along the way. A message of faith and trust is seamlessly woven into the story as both Johnny and Sally must depend on God for protection and wisdom. Add this book to your spring reading list. Highly recommended!
