Some folks have dramatic testimonies of coming to Christ. Others of us are like Timothy, to whom Paul said continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:14-15. But all of us can say that Were It Not For Grace we would be without hope. I love this song that Larnelle Harris recorded in 1998.
WERE IT NOT FOR GRACE
Written by Phillip James McHugh and David Ross Hamilton
Time measured out my days
Life carried me along
In my soul I yearned to follow God
But knew I’d never be so strong
I looked hard at this world
To learn how heaven could be gained
Just to end where I began
Where human effort is all in vain
CHORUS
Were it not for grace
I can tell you where I’d be
Wandering down some pointless road to nowhere
With my salvation up to me
I know how that would go
The battles I would face
Forever running but losing this race
Were it not for grace
So here is all my praise
Expressed with all my heart
Offered to the Friend who took my place
And ran a course I could not start
And when He saw in full
Just how much His love would cost
He still went the final mile between me and heaven
So I would not be lost

Such beautiful lyrics. Were it not for grace, I don't want to even think about where I'd be. Thanks for sharing this song. New to me.
Thanks for sharing that beautiful songs, Linda.
"The battles I would face
Forever running but losing this race"
how true is that? How pointless and meaningless it was. and so, so frustrating.
