Where's Cash Cab When I Need It?

Yesterday was one of those days when I could have slapped a sign on my van that said Mom's Shuttle Service. My girl was playing her viola for the Solo and Ensemble adjudication. She had to be there by 8:00 am to warm up with her ensemble. They played and we got home about 9:30 for a whole hour. Then she had her weekly viola lesson at 11:00. Back home a little after 12 for another hour and a half or so. Then it was back to the Solo and Ensemble location for her solo piece. And of course, this time we wanted to hang around until the results were posted! She got the highest rating, and that plus the fact that she played her piece from memory qualifies her for the State Solo and Ensemble adjudication in May. Her ensemble also qualified for state.

Then it was back home for -- wow! -- two whole hours before she had to be at the school at 6:00 for a "lock-in" with the choir to work on their Follies program coming up in a couple of weeks. I got a few hours at home, and then it was back to pick her up a little before 10:30 last night.

She was in her element - a day filled with music activities! Of course I don't really complain; I love this time together and know that all too soon she won't need me to drive her to her activities. But it did make for a tiring day.

(Oh, and she had to be at church by 8:00 this morning for Youth Worship Band practice, for which she plays keyboard. Fortunately, Dad takes that shift and I got to sleep an extra hour.)

And it's the strangest thing: I had to buy gas today. Wonder why. . . .
