Then it was back home for -- wow! -- two whole hours before she had to be at the school at 6:00 for a "lock-in" with the choir to work on their Follies program coming up in a couple of weeks. I got a few hours at home, and then it was back to pick her up a little before 10:30 last night.
She was in her element - a day filled with music activities! Of course I don't really complain; I love this time together and know that all too soon she won't need me to drive her to her activities. But it did make for a tiring day.
(Oh, and she had to be at church by 8:00 this morning for Youth Worship Band practice, for which she plays keyboard. Fortunately, Dad takes that shift and I got to sleep an extra hour.)
And it's the strangest thing: I had to buy gas today. Wonder why. . . .

Ahhhh! I feel your 'pain' :) I've learned to make the most of the time in the car by trying to have meaningful conversations, and enjoying the 1 on 1 time! Great post!
ohhhhh, I can RELATE! But you're right - all too soon, I won't need to give anyone a ride anymore. "They" (moms of older kids) say I'll miss it, and I believe them!
Quite the busy day. Yes I feel like a cab driver some days too. Even a little more since Kelli wrecked her car & we haven't gotten it fixed, so we're running her everywhere again. I was just getting used to her doing a lot of the running too! :)
highest rating AND by memory! WOW!!
I know what you mean about driving them around though...it can be tiring. Now that my oldest is driving, I don't do quite as much chauferring. (ouch...spelling)
I must admit that I don't miss that part of parenting.(although I still have one to drive around) As a matter of fact, it is awfully nice to have someone to run to the grocery store or another errand for me sometimes.
Ha! So when your daughter claims you're driving her crazy, it's a 4x4 rather than a metaphor?
Congrats to her on progressing to State!
Hope you have a wonderfully blessed week.
Andrea
busy weekend...
your dd is so talented...enjoy every minute...it passes quickly
Congratulations to you both for successfully navigating through the day! Love it when the kids succeed and enjoy doing it. I understand about the gas thing.
Congrats on her going to State! But I complained when I had to pick O up at one o'clock in the morning during tournaments. OhyesIdid! I'm so glad he now can drive himself.
