MY THOUGHTS:
Many suspense books don't bother me because the setting of the mystery seems far-removed from my own life, and it seems unlikely that it would happen to me or a loved one. Then I read Too Close to Home, and it scared the stuffing out of me! Nothing is scarier than the idea of something happening to one of my kids. Not only was the setting extremely realistic, the suspense elevated with each chapter to the point that I could not set the book aside until I reached the end. (Even then, the author countered the resolution by dangling a peek at the next book in this Women of Justice series!) Occasional glimpses inside the mind of the perpetrator just added to the tension. My only issue was the lack of specific warning and information communicated by Connor to his daughter -- in spite of their conflicts, I think most parents would have ensured that their teen knew the red flags that would indicate she had become a target of the offender -- but that is a small complaint. This novel is gripping and compelling, and it hit way Too Close to Home! While I recommend it, don't read it late at night and expect it to lull you to sleep.

Oh man, sounds like another one I need to read. I didn't use to like suspense books, but I'm starting to more and more. I'll be reviewing one I finished recently sometime this week.
My must read list keeps getting longer. I keep finding great buys at the thrift stores so never get to read any on the list. Oh dear.
another must read for me....and my husband wonders why I always carry a book with me! Not enough hours in the day to read.
This one is coming up for me! Now I can't wait!
Thanks so much for the great review! I appreciate you taking the time to do it. So glad you enjoyed the story. God Bless,
Lynette
