MY THOUGHTS

Lisa Harris remains firmly on my list of must-read authors with this latest release. Filled with danger and chillingly realistic, Deadly Intentions riveted my attention from the opening scene and didn't let go until the final page was turned. Caitlyn and Josh garnered my sympathy and admiration while being realistic and relatable. Harris deftly intersperses intrigue, perfectly paced romance, and plenty of twists and turns as matters of faith weave organically throughout this tale. As with all of her novels, determining the outcome was impossible until the satisfying ending. Deadly Intentions will keep you up into the wee hours but it's definitely worth the lost sleep. MY THOUGHTS

Lynette Eason brings her phenomenal Blue Justice series to a satisfying close with this heart-pounding romantic suspense. In classic Eason style, Vow of Justice pulses with unrelenting danger and non-stop action frpm the opening scene to the final page. High-stakes drama combined with richly crafted characters make the pages practically turn themselves. Linc and Allie garnered my admiration and respect as they race to find the person or persons bent on destroying them. Linc's family members, each of whom were featured in earlier books in this series, figure prominantly in this story as well, although the novel easily stands alone. Don't miss this captivating tale and series!

MY THOUGHTS

I'm not sure my heartrate has returned to normal yet after reading Patricia Bradley's newest installment in her Memphis Cold Case series. Fast-paced action and high-stakes suspense make this book impossible to put down until the final page is turned. Carly's strength and determination in the wake of all she has experienced both amazed and inspired me. Bradley depicts the heartbreaking issue of human trafficking in a realistic manner without being graphic. The romance between Carly and Logan is perfectly paced. While this is the fourth novel in the series, it easily reads as a standalone, as do all its predecessors. Add this book and series to your reading list!

MY THOUGHTS

This is the first novel I've read by Lynn H. Blackburn but it won't be the last. This riveting suspense grabbed my attention from the opening scene and didn't let go until the final satisfying page. Although I had not read the previous book in this series, I had no trouble connecting with and caring about the well-drawn characters. Adrenaline-laced scenes fraught with danger kept me rapidly turning pages as Adam and Sabrina desperately attempt to stay a step ahead of the perpetrator. Cyber forensics, human trafficking, and a well-paced romance interlace in this multi-faceted story. Blackburn perfectly juxtaposes organic elements of relational humor with high-stakes drama, taking the reader on a roller coaster of emotions. In Too Deep will keep you on the edge of your seat. Don't miss it!

MY THOUGHTS

Robin Caroll never disappoints and her newest suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. Caroll plunges the reader into the world of adventure games, increasing the stakes with a murder. MY THOUGHTS

Whew! This book should come with a warning that it is not for the faint of heart! DiAnn Mills once again kept me on the edge of my seat with this spine-tingling novel, weaving a tale filled with unrelenting action, continued peril, and high stakes drama. Compelling characters bring the story to life, and while some are easy to love or loathe, numerous incidents make it impossible to ascertain the trustworthiness of others. The rapid-fire pace is countered only by elongated moments of breath-holding suspense, and the contradictory momentum is reminiscent of a roller coaster's pause before the plunge. This is not a book to read casually, mildly perusing a chapter a day, but one which will tempt you to eschew all obligations until you reach the satisfying conclusion. Place Burden of Proof at the top of your fall reading list!

MY THOUGHTS

Lisa Harris is on my short list of must-read suspense authors, and she nails it again with her newest release. Beginning with the heart-in-the-throat opening and continuing through the final sentence, A Secret to Die For riveted my attention. High stakes and non-stop action make the pages fairly crackle with tension, and the plot is all too believable in today's high-tech world. Harris adds the perfect touch of romance, upping the angst and weaving in poignant moments that make the heart pound for a completely different reason. Put this one at the top of your fall reading list. But fair warning: do not start this book right before bedtime like I did. You'll either sleep with the lights on or stay up all night to read it!

MY THOUGHTS

I know to take a deep breath when opening a Lynette Eason suspense because it will likely have to last me through the entire book. MY THOUGHTS

I have thoroughly enjoyed each of the previous Chesapeake Valour books, and Dani Pettrey brings the series to a satisfying close with another captivating story. While each book can be read as a standalone, it is much more gratifying to read them all as each story contains recurring characters while focusing on one individual within a group of friends who work in a variety of law enforcement jobs. MY THOUGHTS

Nancy Mehl wraps up her Defenders of Justice series with an action-packed thriller. The explosive opening was only a precursor to the danger and suspense lurking on practically every page. Mehl kept me on my toes paying attention to the many characters, dissecting their words and non-verbal nuances for clues to the resolution. As a nurse, I did take exception to some of the hospital scenes, finding them rather unrealistic but I'm a a bit picky for those types of details. Overall, though, this is a captivating novel that will keep you eagerly turning pages and likely surprise you with its ultimate resolution.

High Treason
FBI Task Force, Book 3
DiAnn Mills
(Tyndale House Publishers)
ISBN: 978-1496410993
February 2018/416 pages/$14.99

When Saudi Prince Omar bin Talal visits Houston to seek cancer treatment for his mother, an attempt on his life puts all agencies on high alert. FBI Special Agent Kord Davidson is the lead on the prince’s protective detail because of their long-standing friendship, but he’s surprised—and none too happy—when the CIA brings one of their operatives, Monica Alden, in on the task force after the assassination attempt.

Kord and Monica must quickly put aside interagency squabbles, however, when they learn the prince has additional motives for his visit—plans to promote stronger ties with the US and encourage economic growth and westernization in his own country. Plans that could easily incite a number of suspects both in the US and in countries hostile to Saudi Arabia. Worse yet, the would-be assassin always seems to be one step ahead of them, implicating someone close to the prince—or the investigation. But who would be willing to commit high treason, and can Kord and Monica stop them in time?

Mills creates an all-too-likely scenario in this fast-paced tale rife wifth tension on an international level as well as among those guarding the Saudi prince, for whom trust is as imperative as it is dangerous. Multiple layers seamlessly weave together into a fascinating framework of clashing cultures, family friction, and political posturing. Heart-pounding moments are punctuated with the perfect amount of romance, adding a whole 'nother level of tension. High Treason is high drama and highly thrilling.
