Party Hearty!

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

Welcome to my blog! It's fun to be part of 5 Minutes for Mom's Ultimate Blog Party! This reminds me of the old Progressive Dinners we used to have in my church youth group days - you know, appetizers at one house, entree at the next, etc.

Whether you're a first-time or frequent visitor to my site, grab your favorite cup to sip on, make yourself at home, and browse at your leisure. I'm a new addict newcomer to the blogging world, having just begun in January. Blogging's a blast! Love to read 'em and write 'em! Love the new friends I've made and look forward to making more!

A little bit about me:

1) I live in the great state of Texas. Born and raised here. Graduated from UT. However, I prefer Great is Thy Faithfulness to be sung at my funeral rather than a salute to the Horns.

2) I love to read. Especially good Christian fiction. And even better if it's written by Angela Hunt (her blog keeps me going between releases), Nancy Rue, Charles Martin, or others mentioned in my profile.

3) I love words. God's Word. Sung words. Puns. Good clean humor. And Scrabble words.

4) I love serving the Lord.

5) I love the Old Testament, full of God's grace and mercy.

6) I don't like styes. Or barnacles of old age. Or out-of-control testing of our kids in school.

7) I love positive feedback. Especially on my blog. Comments make me happy! So do prizes! So after you leave a comment go to the Ultimate Blog Party site and check out their cool prizes and register to win one. Maybe you'll win a Starbucks card from me!

If perchance I won anything, my choices would be:

#67 - the blog makeover from Shauna at See My Designs
#45 - the blogg makeover from Summer at Summer's Nook
#71 - the blog design credits offered by RS Designs

#123, 60, 39, 49, 140, & 70 would be pretty neat to win as well!

Thanks for stopping by! It's great to meet you and I hope to "see" you again. Feel free to look around my home page - there's a great recipe for some super-easy fudge cookies and a great chicken enchilada casserole over there!

And be sure to stop by CWO's party site too! They have some great activities and giveaways, including a Sony Walkman Video MP3 Player with 4GB Memory offered by Art Bookbindery!

Happy Partying!

Your title caught my eye because I love mochas...and now I see we have so much in common!
I'm 40-something, but have younger children, having started a bit later in life.
My mom is also turning 81 this month! We're helping her sell her house so she can move closer...
and I love Christian fiction!
Hope you can stop by and say hello! :)
Blessings,
~Tammy

Your title caught my eye. I love mocha's too. In fact I put a recipe for a mocha in my party post.

You'll have to stop by.

Thank you so much for talking about Christian fiction. I love it too but haven't found anything to sink my teeth into after I read all of Mindy Starns Clark stuff. I've read a lot by Lori Wick also. Now, I'm off to the library! Thanks Linda!
BTW ... congrats on 5 games won!

I feel like I am at a huge party with lots of people, but wish we could sneak away for a cup of tea and just chat....

Maybe when this is all over?

Great Job Linda!! See ya at the party:)

I may have to rethink the nature of our friendship. UT? I went to A&M...an Aggie through and through! LOL!

And I'm with you...I don't want the War Hymn sung at my funeral either. I'll take Come Thou Fount or Abide With Me any day!

Yet another Texas UBP partier! Nice to meet you!

I have made a recipe almost exactly like your Chicken Enchilada Casserole, but in the crockpot! It's a great way to have it ready when I get home from driving kids to their afternoon activities.

And you *should* try the pizza recipe on my blog - if you've made bread, it will be easier than you think!! Enjoy :)

Unfortunately, I'm allergic to chocolate, so I can't have a mocha, but I did have a great time visiting your site! Nice to meet you!!

Thanks for your hospitality! I recognize a few faces here. (We must all be java lovers.) Your sidebar looks like it's chock full of goodies too.

When you get a chance, stop by my party. There's a Hbrw word thingy for you!

Thanks for stopping by my place and leaving a comment. Us 4-0 something moms need to stick together. It's neat to know we have kids that are about the same age.
Thanks for the coffee and hospitality, I'll be back. :)

Great party post, Linda! I didn't realize you were a UT grad. Much of my family lives in the Austin area. I love it there!

I used to love those progressive dinners, also. We should make those popular again! Great job!

Linda, I’m glad you asked. Twitter is a fun way to let people know what you are doing… in 140 characters or less.

For example, if you look at my Twitter Tools, right under the header, you will see that I had coffee this morning, we had the rainy day blues, and I wanted Doc to get home to help with my wild tribe of children.

Now the best part is that people can follow your “tweets” or updates by clicking on the Follow button on the Twitter website. Of course, you need to sign up with an account first to do that. It’s free, fun and just a goofy way to keep track of all your blogging pals- as long as they are signed up too.

Click on “more updates” to see my public timeline for the past few days.

And don’t forget to add me to your Following list, so I can Follow you too.

Thank you for visiting my new dessert blog. I hope you liked it and that you'll come back.

You have a very nice party post. Lost of reading so we can get to know you. We seem to have a lot in common: God, age, mom, reading, "out-of-control testing," etc.

Oh, we seem to have a lot in common. I blog about God, too.

You are invited to my party!

Was that a double tall with whip? Yumm.

I'm from Western WA, only an hour from the Starbuck's facilities. Do me a favor and count me out of the Starbuck's card. They are not in my top 10 favorite coffees.

I feel great sympathy for those of you who live outside if the Seattle area and have to live with Starbucks.
