Latte Daze

Latte Daze
Erynn Mangum
(Nav Press)
ISBN: 978-1600067129
July, 2010/304 pages/$14.99

When Maya Davis’ ex-boyfriend proposes to her roommate, Jen, their apartment becomes Wedding Central. As if that weren’t awful enough, Jen’s obnoxious mom moves in to help with the planning!

Maya's relationships really start to get crazy when her genius brother and sister-in-law announce their pregnancy, and then to top it off there’s Jack—could it be love? Who wouldn’t need a coffee break!

This fun, lighthearted fiction novel for teens uses strong characters, humor, and quiet faith to promote trust in God.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Erynn Mangum plans her life around caffeine, but when she’s not tipping the coffee mug, she’s spending time with her husband, Jon, who she met and married since writing Miss Match, ReMatch, and Match Point . And she has a wonderful blog, where you can see pictures of her brand-new baby boy, who was born July 13!

MY THOUGHTS:
I heart Erynn Mangum and her books! Ever since I met her at the Book Expo (my interview is here), I've enjoyed reading her novels and keeping up with her on her blog. Her newest series, the Maya Davis series, is such fun to read. I purchased the first book, Cool Beans and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I was tickled when I was given an opportunity to review Latte Daze. This is a wonderful portrayal of a Christian young woman who struggles with inconsistencies in her quiet time, who loves her family, who is thrilled for her newly-engaged roommate, and who wants to please God in all she does. The lively conversations and witty repartee kept me smiling throughout the story and wishing Maya had been around when I was in my early twenties! I look forward to the next book, Double Shot, which will be released in October.

I just have to state again how much I love all your reviews of young adult contemporary Christian fiction. I gave the books you sent me to two of my girls this past Sunday. They loved them and are planning on swapping after the each read the one they chose. :)
