TSMSS - A Couple of Oldies

Here's an oldie but goodie from almost 30 years ago. This song, sung by Benny Hester, was #1 on the Christian charts in 1981 and was the first CCM song to break the Billboard Top 40 AC Charts. (Wikipedia) This is such a great song, and the piano intro is beautiful!

Another one of his songs that I've always loved is When God Ran. A lot of other people liked it as well; it was the longest running number one song in Contemporary Christian Music history at that time, #1 for thirteen weeks. It's such a beautiful portrayal of the story of us as prodigal "sons" and God's response when we come home.

Saturdays wouldn't be the same without participating in Amy's fun meme!

I never heard of Benny Hester but I enjoyed these songs. As I think back to that time frame of the early 1980's though I wasn't listening to Christian music. It's sad for me to actually think of those times now but I'm so glad this prodigal has come home to her Abba Daddy.

Blessings and love,
Debbie

I have heard PC&D give credit to Benny Hester, but I never heard him sing. I love the songs, his voice and the accompaniment! Thank you for sharing both songs!
