TSMSS - Give Me Your Eyes

I'm in Houston attending a Tough Ministries conference. Sadly, there are too many ministries we consider "tough" in the church today but which are areas where folks are hurting and desperately need to know the love and hope of Jesus. Children in foster care. Orphans. Teen moms. Families with special needs children. Divorced individuals and their children. Folks broken by grief and loss. Families caring for seniors with Alzheimer's or Parkinson's. Folks with cancer. The list goes on and on.

On the way back to my MIL's after today's sessions, this song came on the radio. It never fails to touch my heart, and it was so timely after today's sessions.

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity

Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

I'm so glad you posted this song today Linda. I never heard it and yet it is so good. The words have such meaning and it is what I want; to truly see the world through His eyes.

Blessings,
Debbie

If we all prayed the prayer that is that song, and meant it, God would bless us with the ability to see and react in compassion and love, and this would be a better world.

What a blessing we could be if we saw people through the eyes of God...he doesn't see the skin, or the clothes...He sees the heart and the pain...we need to be as caring and compassionate, as loving and forgiving, as Jesus...to be like Christ. You are right, there are so many needs among mankind...we all need each other and we all need the Lord.
God bless,
Mary

Amen - this is a great song with a wonderful message. To be the hands and feet of Jesus...to see the world through His eyes!

Blessings Linda and safety as you travel and wisdom as you gain from the conference...well chosen song!
I love how God gets these songs on the radio just at the right time to minister, confirm or convey a message from His heart! I so believe that this song's message is a cry of the times for us to OPEN OUR EYES as you say so well to so many desperate needs of the hurting! May God strengthen us to see, hear and act in His Name as His servants with His eyes! I shared this on my MISSIONS blog and it is one we could hear each week!!! We need to be awakened & attentive to God's pleas to us: His body!

Hi Linda, this song always makes me think when I hear it. I used the lyrics as my recent post for Laced With Grace. There are so many hurting, that's my prayer to see people the way Jesus sees them and what hurts they have.

I heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago at a weekly evangelism meeting at church. Our worship leader was sick, so our leader played this video as well as Casting Crown's "Does Anybody Hear Her?", and it totally hit me like a ton of bricks.

How many opportunities have I passed up because I see the world through my eyes instead of His? Great song...thank for sharing!

I had never heard this song before. Thanks for sharing it. I, too, want to look at/see everything through God's eyes and want my heart to be like His.

What holy timing for your conference and this song! This one never fails to convict me, as it should. Bless you for wanting to do the "tough ministries" - we need more just like you. May I not be too afraid or too lazy to do the same . . .

Thanks for that song, Linda. There are so many hurting people who need Jesus. Lord, show us what you would have us do.

I had never heard this song....wow.

I agree with Xandra...how many opportunities have I missed because I am seeing those around me through my eye and not His.
