Scoping Out the Random Dozen

Thanks so much to those of you who kept me in your prayers Tuesday. It was not a fun day. The lack of intake and the prep gave me a raging migraine headache as well as nausea caused by the combo of the headache and being a bit dehydrated. I've never been so glad to see an IV and drugs in my life!! I had issues after the procedures as well and ended up staying much longer than we had anticipated while they gave me more IV fluids and meds. Hopefully a good night's sleep will put me to rights again! I'm not even going to think about the biopsies the doctor took; those will take a week or so!

Enough of that. It's another great Wednesday with Random Dozen!

1. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being a cranky-baby-hissy-fitter, how much of a complainer are you?

So I don't suppose I can complain about this question, huh?! Probably more than I want to admit. (And this is so not the day to ask this! Although since this post is going up on Wednesday, I'll be over it!) But I'm trying to break the generational cycle of complaining, especially when it's disguised as critiquing!

2. When someone else is talking, do you listen, or are you thinking about what you're going to say in response?

Most of the time I listen. But sometimes I'm guilty of forming my response.

3. I just deleted 1062 messages from my email account. Do you have any plans for a clean sweep this month--of anything?

I'm sure Lid's wicked sense of humor is why she put this question in here this week. Not that I'm COMPLAINING!:-) But I would imagine that a bodily sweep should suffice.
I also cleaned out my linen closet Saturday.

And now, here are some brilliant questions from a gal named Angie at Angie's Ad Lib who graciously offered to let me (2nd Cup Lid) borrow her brain. Please go over and see Angie because it was so nice of her to help me out. Thank you so much, Angie!

4. Tell us about your perfume. Was it a gift? What does it remind you of? Do you have a signature scent?

Estee Lauder's Tuscany per Donna. I've been wearing it so long I don't remember how I got started. Most perfumes are way too sweet for me. This one is perfect and even when I forget I have it on, people tell me how good I smell.

5. What is your best organizing tip for the new year?

Get rid of it! Throw it out or take it to Goodwill.

6. What is your favorite comic strip?

Since Calvin & Hobbes is no more, and Johnny Hart - who wrote B.C. - has died I would say it's a tie between Baby Blues & Zits.

7. Do you sleep with a fluffy or flat pillow?

Fluffy. If it's flat, what's the point?

8. What color is your kitchen? Why did you choose that color?

Granite is speckled black with some blue scattered. It's a lot prettier than it sounds! We chose it because it's pretty and classy looking and I didn't want brown!

9. What’s the most interesting bumper sticker you’ve seen?

I've seen lots of good bumper stickers (and even more bad ones!) but I don't remember a single one.

10. Do you prefer an expensive writing tool or whatever is lying around? (Are you a Montblanc or a Papermate?)

Pilot G2 Retractable Ink Gel Rollerball

11. What chore doesn’t feel like a chore – you just enjoy it (at least most of the time)?

Cooking and baking. Except when I feel like I'm in a rut and can't think of anything new to fix.

12. If your parents often repeated themselves, what is something one of them said more than once?

My mom: Always take your purse so you have identification in case you're in an accident. (She didn't care about my underwear - just wanted to be sure they knew who the underwear belonged to!)

My dad: Always take a set of nice clothes when you go out of town - you might have to go to a funeral.

They were pretty much worse-case scenario types! LOL

Go on over to 2nd Cup of Coffee and join the fun!

Linda, I've been off in my own lala land I haven't caught up on you. You're in my prayers girl, HUGS!

This year, I'm getting rid of everything I don't use. No more storage! My 87 year old grandpa uses everything he owns. My goal is to live like that. BTW, he always lived liked that too.

I love those multi-colored pens. Color just brightens my day. Gosh, I need a life. ;)

Umm, never heard of Tuscany. Will have to go smell it sometime. The bottle is pretty!

B.C. and Calvin & Hobbes - loved those. I chose Baby Blues over Zits, but just barely. We seem to enjoy the same funnies.

# 7 - Amen, sister!

I love gel rollerballs. I like Pilot's Precise V5, but I might give yours a try too. I have a thing for pens.

I'm glad the procedure is behind you now and hope for good results. My dr. wants me to do that just as an "Now that you're over 50" thing, but I just haven't found the umph for it yet. I had one a few years ago during some digestive issues that showed all was well and I am not real eager to repeat the experience just because of an age. The procedure was not bad at all, but the prep was awful.

You know, I really wrestle with the difference between evaluation and critiquing often. I started to go into all that in my answer, but didn't.

I think that is the same kind of pen I like that I didn't know the name of -- it is similar, anyway.

Goodness! I am so amazed by how particular people are about their pens! I'm finding this to be one of the most interesting questions this week - maybe because I expected it to be the most boring! LOL!

*High 5* for #6!

#8 - at first read I thought your walls were painted a "granite black" with blue speckles! LOL! Now I get it - the counters! I bet they are gorgeous! What color are your walls?

So....do you always have your purse with you? And do you always travel with a nice set of clothes? Of course you do! Those lifelong admonitions stick with us, whether we like it or not :-)

Hope you're feeling better today!

LOL with your dad's comment! A man would think of being prepared. A woman would say, "isn't that great - a chance to shop for a little black dress!"

Even as I read yours I was crafting my response...Obviously I didn't feel to creative...ha ha.

Great answers!!

WOW! Two things in common - dehydration leading to migraines and Tuscany per Donna!!! I love that scent. It was in the middle of Coco and Burberry for me so I did not list it. I still have some powder which desperately needs a spraying companion! I have begged for years for it,,,guess I'll have to buy it for myself :-)& you must take a pic of your counter top...it sounds marvelous!

Scoping out... I'm not looking forward to that one! Here's hope that all is well in the end.

My beloved MIL sends clipped out series of Zits cartoons to us several times a year. The illustrator must be peeking through my windows!
