Just Peachy

Nothing says summer to me like peaches.

Now I know Georgia thinks they wrote the book on peaches. But here in central Texas, Fredericksburg peaches reign as the absolute sweetest, juiciest, most delectable ones I have ever put in my mouth.

I've been enjoying them on my cereal all week, and last night I finally got a couple of cobblers made, one for us and a traditional birthday cobbler for a friend.

That's good eating, even if I didn't have any Blue Bell to scoop on top.

What's your favorite summer taste?

I have to say the absolute most mouth-watering peaches I have ever sunk my teeth into were from a little town called Gaffney, SC. My favorite summer taste has been the homemade applesauce that we made yesterday. Apples picked right off the tree. Nothing says freshness like home-grown!

I love peaches but I can't ever find any decent ones where I live. So strawberry shortcake is my favorite.

I'm sure the Fredericksburg peaches are wonderful, but this Georgia girl has got to stick up for her state's peaches. LOL! South Carolina's are also good.

Other summer tastes that I love are watermelon, blueberries, and tomatoes.

My husband is a diabetic and we're both trying to keep our weight down, so I've been making some delicious sugar-free desserts with these fruits.

Oh, yes... Fredericksburg peaches are fairly unbeatable. I wish we had a local farmer's market where I could get some.

I can't seem to be consistent on a favorite... It changes from year to year.

This year, I'm totally stuck on sweet vine-ripe tomatoes. Combine with some fresh cucumbers, herbs, feta cheese & EVOO... greek salad, baby.

I think that ripe peaches must be the most aromatic fruit, too. Yum.

Since I live in the midst of farm country, we LOVE fresh picked watermelon, blueberries, corn on the cob and peaches. Actually if I must confess, we are addicted to them. :)
