Random Answers

It's Wednesday and time to play Random Dozen Roulette!

1. How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet?

I know one pair is at least 6 years old. Because it hearkens back to my boy's Cub Scout days. They are nice and warm, so I wore them on a campout. Sitting by the fire, it seemed a natural and innocent thing to do to prop my feet on the edge of the metal fire ring/border. Part of the rubber sole got kinda soft and gooey.

2. Did you buy Girl Scout cookies this year? If so, what variety?

Did I buy GS cookies? Is the earth round? Thin Mints, PB patties, and shortbreads.

3. Do you know how to ballroom dance? If not, would you like to?

No and yes. It looks so graceful and romantic.

However, I am not so graceful, and it is also something Mr. Spock my engineer man will never do!

4. Were you a responsible child/teenager?

Yes, way too much. I was too scared of getting into trouble.

5. How many of this year's Oscar-nominated movies did you see?

Zero. Zilch. Nada. Next question?

6. If you're going to have a medical procedure done, such as having blood drawn, is it easier for you to watch someone else having the procedure done or have it done yourself

Well, since I am a nurse, I pretty much know what most procedures entail. But I've never liked just watching - it's much more fun to be helping.

7. What is your favorite day of the week and why?

Friday. Because there's no pressure in the evening for the kids to do homework, and I love anticipation and knowing I can sleep in a bit the next day.

8. Do you miss anyone right now?

My dad. I really wish my kids had been older when he died.

9. Do hospitals make you queasy?

LOL - see #6. I LOVE hospitals! When my boy ended up with meningitis when he was 7 months old, the doctor filling in for my doctor was hesitant about telling me he needed to be hospitalized, 'cause parents usually freak out. Not me. I was relieved -- in the hospital he would get an IV and be monitored!

10. At which store would you like to max-out your credit card. Not that you ever would, you responsible person, you.

Just one? Can it be a spree between Williams-Sonoma, Barnes & Noble, and Macy's?

11. Are you true to the brand names of products/items?

Yes. I buy the same things consistently, and I don't care for very many store brands. And Motrin really does seem to work better than Advil.

12. Which is more difficult: looking into someone’s eyes when you are telling someone how you feel, or looking into someone’s eyes when he/she is telling you how he/she feels?

I don't do eye contact very well in any situation. Well, with one exception: when I'm scolding my kids.

Head on over to 2nd Cup of Coffee and bare your soul with the rest of us!

I loved your last one. That's when I do my best eye contact, too!

I have so melted the bottom of shoes at a campfire. lol. And we should probably NOT go shopping together. It would be too dangerous. Thanks for sharing. Blessings, SusanD

No. 12 -- I have had my 13 year old look me in the eyes so that I am clear and HE is clear that he has been told "whatever" it was he needed to hear. Then the excuse goes from "I didn't hear you" to "I forgot" AAAAUUUGGGHHH~

I'm glad I'm not the only person who struggles with eye contact. And yes, I do it when I am cross with my kids. Which, of course, is when they try very hard to avoid eye contact!

Have a great rest of the week!

I'm with you on #9. I mostly buy the brands I know will work that's why advertisers aren't interested in my dollars. Did you know after 40, you don't matter? And I don't have a problem with looking people in the eye.

I could have picked this out of a crowd with my eyes shut as belonging to you. Thanks for playing, friend.

Oh, I didn't think of a bookstore as a place to max out a credit card -- that would be ideal.

I don't so eye contact well, either.

I'd like to spread my shopping spree out too. Too hard to pick just one store.

I have some shoes with 'melty' soles too...also from scout days!

I actually do eye contact very well - and I never realized how much it bothers me NOT to have eye contact until I gave birth to a child who simply can NOT make eye contact! He is very insecure and the fact that I can never meet him eye to eye really hurts me... He's 20 years old now and we have worked with him over and over and over again on making eye contact -- because sometimes it's flat out IMPORTANT - like going for job interviews! It's very hard for him. :(

I do buy certain brands of some items... but when they change their formula, it drives me nuts!

I don't do eye contact well either and I have to agree Motrin works better.

GS cookies? Is the earth round? Ah, yes, sister, we are soulmates indeed...

Well I'm going to have give the Motrin a try.

I like that about Friday nights too.

What entertaining answers, so enjoyed visiting your blog today. I'm glad to know that about Motrin. Love learning new "tidbits." Happy Spring!

Williams-Sanoma would be a great place to blow a wad of cash!

I very much agree with number 12 and I am thankful for people like you when I have to be hospitalized.

Is the earth round? I love that!!

I have never ever shopped at a Williams Sonoma before. I can star my kids down when I scold them as well. Until next time!

A nurse is one thing I never wanted to be. Not that needles bother me (I've had way too many shots in my life for that to be an issue) but it was the body fluids and other "gross" stuff that held me back. I get green just thinking about it. Am so glad there are plenty of men and women who feel differently though :-)

So why is a pair of shoes with soft and gooey soles still in your closet? LOL

Totally agree with #8, in regards to my mom. My son only has vague recollections of her and my daughter doesn't remember her at all. Sad.

Have a great week!

Great answers! Those are some of my favorite girl scout cookies too.

I think there's a lot to be said for being afraid of getting in trouble. :)
