MY THOUGHTS:
This book has lots of good information for the student anticipating the start of college. It covers a wide range of information and has some practical tips about roommates, money management, extra-curricular activities, roommates, and more. My one complaint is that it is a bit dated, particularly in references to cultural trends, which surprised me for a book less than five years old. But the world changes rapidly now!=. This is a light-hearted book with lots of humor thrown in, which will likely appeal to its intended audience. If they took the time to update it, it could be a great book for a college-bound teen to read.

You know, our youth leader might be able to use this. A lot of the island students drag their feet about going off to college. It isn't that they don't want the education, it is that they wwere raised in an insulated fishbowl and know it. There are too many unknowns "away".
Just this Summer I talked to two different girls who quit college their freshman year and ran home because living "off island" was overwhelming. They are now both returning to college (two years older and hopefully wiser) ready to try again. Maybe if more of them were better prepared when they left the first time, they wouldn't return home frightened and defeated.
Sounds like something my daughter should have read this summer.
